What Happens When Your Employer Makes A Management Referral Into the EAP?

A management referral is initiated by your employer when the employer or supervisor recommends that the employee seek professional help because of a significant change in his or her job performance. Many times this use of your EAP benefit is in place of immediate dismissal or termination due to excessive absenteeism, an accident on the job, or reasonable suspicion of use of alcohol or drugs during work hours.

Through counseling, if you are able to effectively address your problems and improve your job performance, employers will obviously take this into account when re-evaluating your employment status.  In this way, your EAP benefit can help you to maintain your job.
